Ironworkers Local #399 conducts apprenticeship training at our new Training Center located at 26 East Fleming Pike, Winslow, NJ.  Our new facility is equipped with 2 large classrooms, a brand new Top Shelf welding shop with 24 versatile welding booths and the best exhaust/air filtration system Lincoln Electric has to offer. All the latest technology, 8,800sf, of open floor space and 20 acres of room to grow!   The union also conducts several safety courses including OSHA 10, OSHA 30, OSHA Sub Part R, Built-Rite and CPR/ First Aid training at the new Training Center.

The apprenticeship for Ironworkers Local #399 consists of three years of instruction.  Classroom related instruction is Tuesday and Wednesday evening from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  The most important and most rewarding part of the apprenticeship is on-the-job training.  Apprentices are coached and mentored by qualified journeymen on the job site.  Apprentices are expected to work 2,000 hour a year when work is readily available.  Apprentices must complete 1,400 hours of work place training to advance to the next level each year.  The combination of the classroom and on-the-job training produces a well rounded qualified journeyman.     

Journeyman upgrading classes are also offered and recommended to all active members.  Local #399 offers welders certification testing in SMAW and FCAW in all positions.  Test coupons are inspected, cut and bend tested on site under the supervision of the welding instructor Chris Leidy CWI with oversight by Gary Brown who is also a  CWI and CWE.
